Counseling Student Intern
Sam Houston State University
Supervised by Desi Richardson, MA, LPC

Hello, all! My name is Decoy Horn (they/them/theirs). I'm a Counseling Student Intern currently enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Sam Houston State University, and I will be practicing under the supervision of Desi Richardson MA. LPC.

My background consists of a B.A. of Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Texas State University and several years of experience working for a crisis line. I'm interested in trauma work, particularly adolescents and adults with a history of complex trauma, but I'm also passionate about assisting parents learn how to support their child's mental health struggles. I'm also interested in assisting with LBGTQ+ issues, whether that is the main concern or you simply feel that your identity informs the other things you're struggling with.

My purpose as a counselor is to help facilitate self-understanding, personal agency, and resiliency. I believe that every person has the capacity to create a satisfying life, but not every person has access to the methods needed to do so—and that is where counseling comes in. I hope to foster strengths and assist in discovering new methods and resources to give you the best chance at living the life you want to live.
